Daniel 5:22 "And thou his son, O
Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;"
Now, we see Daniel explaining to
Belshazzar that it will be no different with him. He is so proud, he has not
given God credit for making him king. He is not a humble man. God will bring
him down.
Daniel 5:23 "But hast lifted up
thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his
house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have
drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of
brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in
whose hand thy breath [is], and whose [are] all thy ways, hast thou not
glorified:"
The things of God are to be holy. They
are not to be used by common man. This was blasphemy to use his holy vessels in
such a manner.
Belshazzar and all
these people worshipped things of this world. They did not worship the One True
God. God breathed the breath of life into man, before man could even live. The
man's very life depends upon God.
Things you can see
with your eyes are part of God's creation and are not to be worshipped. They
have worshipped God's creation and not the Creator God.
